Walk the coast at Opape

The Opape Coastal Walkway is a good place to stop and stretch your legs on a trip around the East Cape.

The return walk takes about an hour and begins at Opape Beach.

It follows the Old Stage Coach Rd through some attractive native bush and affords excellent views of the sea and rocky coastline.

Pa sites and the landing places of early canoes add a special historical element.

It's 17km east of Opotiki on SH35.
