The House of Memories in Waipu is a virtual cache of valuable documents, photographs, books and other memorabilia, and a homing point for many Nova Scotian descendants the world over, hoping to trace their heritage.
Families of the early Scottish and Nova Scotian settlers have donated numerous items, including the ship diaries kept by the settlers as they made the journey from Nova Scotia to New Zealand in the 1850s.
Better known as the Waipu Pioneer Settlers Memorial Museum, the centre is also the town's visitor information centre. Celebrations for 150 years of settlement in Waipu will be held in 2003.
