With Britain the most popular destination for working holidaymakers, the details of the British working holiday visa are set out below, as well as those of Ireland.
BRITAIN
Must be between 18 and 30 (not have turned 31 when your application reaches the British Embassy in New Zealand) - the restriction on taking employment in your profession has been lifted. The visa lasts for two years with an option to turn it into a work permit after one, if your employer will sponsor you. You must have enough cash to support yourself and buy a ticket home.
IRELAND
Must be between 18 and 30 inclusive and prove you have access to $2500 and an onwards ticket, or $2800. You must not work for one employer for more than three months. Permit is for one year.
The rest of the work-visa schemes have similar age limits and conditions. For further details about these and other options the internet is the best bet, with Anywork Anywhere offering extensive and mostly up-to-date information.
