Virgin Blue go direct between Sydney and Melbourne

Virgin Blue has begun direct flights between Sydney and Melbourne.

Competition on the route has reduced since May when Qantas took over the businesses of low-fare carrier Impulse Airlines.

Impulse has since ceased flying to major destinations. Qantas will raise the number of flights between Sydney and Melbourne to 411 a week from 401.
