If you want to know what it was like to circumnavigate subantarctic South Georgia Island by sea kayak, head to the Dorothy Winstone Centre in Howe St, Newton, on Thursday at 7.30pm. Adventure Philosophy's Mark Jones will relate the team's experience of dodging giant elephant seals while paddling 650km around one of the world's most remote islands. He'll show never-seen-before film footage, stunning images and tell personal anecdotes. Tickets to The Unclaimed Coast cost $15 or $10 (students) and are on sale at Tisdalls, Outdoor Action and Canoe & Kayak stores. Door sales depend on ticket pre-sales.
