Some services have become permanent fixtures, such as Uber Eats or Uber Helicopter, which flies people in New York from a heliport in Manhattan to JFK Airport.
Others have been promotional or seasonal offerings, such as Uber Sleigh, which allowed customers to book a reindeer ride for free during December in Lapland, Finland.
Similar to how reindeer rides are a must-do activity in Lapland, hot-air ballooning is the most popular activity to try in Cappadocia.
The region has dozens of companies offering to fly tourists above the Unesco-protected landscape during sunrise. For those concerned about a big black and green balloon standing out amongst the crowd of pastel-coloured balloons, don’t worry, Uber’s test flight balloon was yellow with a subtly branded basket, the Telegraph reported.

According to Local Cappadocia, a travel blog about the region, a standard hot air balloon ride will cost around €250 to €300 ($455 to $545). However, those who book with Uber will only have to pay €150 ($270) for a 90-minute journey.
How can you book an Uber hot-air balloon ride?
Unlike an Uber taxi, one can’t just flag down a hot air balloon within minutes, especially as the best rides take place in the early hours of the morning, to catch the sunrise.
Instead, travellers can book a spot on a 1.5-hour flight 12 hours ahead of time, using the app’s “reserve” page.
The service will only be available October 23 to November 19 but flights will depart every morning during this time, Uber stated in a post to LinkedIn.
In celebration of Turkey’s centenary year, Uber will offer 100 free rides to the first customers to book, the Telegraph reported.
