Wind shear has forced an Air New Zealand flight heading to Auckland to divert to Hamilton.
Flight NZ612 departed Queenstown for Auckland at about 10.35am, according to data from online flight-tracking website Flightradar24.
Shortly after approaching Auckland, the Airbus A320-232 turned around and landed in Hamilton at around 1pm.
“NZ612 from Queenstown to Auckland has diverted to Hamilton due to wind shear conditions on approach to Auckland. The aircraft will refuel before heading back to Auckland,” an Air NZ spokesperson told the Herald.
“No other services are impacted.”
