Despite her efforts, not all viewers were impressed; many claimed the in-flight baking to be annoying and rude.
“I’m a flight attend [sic] and it’s a big no. Seriously pull yourself together people,” reads one comment, which received 1050 likes.
Many others shared the sentiment. “Do people not realize commercial flights are shared with other passengers?” one asked, while another said the video was “the dumbest s***” they’d seen that day.
One person, however, pointed out that passengers are completely entitled to eat their own food on a plane and she wasn’t inconveniencing anyone else.
“What is it that she’s doing that is hurting other people,” they asked. “We are allowed to eat on a plane. Take out food from our bags etc.”
The commenter said it all depended on who Rossi was seated beside.
“Strangers? Unacceptable; someone familiar to her? Totally fine as long as she doesn’t get messy.”
Rossi responded, saying she was sitting next to her friend and their row had an empty seat.
Despite selecting the song Messy by Lola Young for the video, Rossi said her baking session was tidy, quiet and considerate of fellow travellers.
“I cleaned before and especially after. It took me 15 minutes in silence. I didn’t leave even a crumb,” she wrote.
She did not detail how she managed to get all the ingredients to the airport, through security and on board her flight.
Others weren’t vehemently opposed, but simply confused about why Rossi felt the need to bake on the flight.
“But why? There’s a time and place for everything., one wrote. “No controversy really, can I ask why of this?” reads a translation of another. Many suggested it was simply for attention.
“Imagine being this desperate for likes,” one person wrote.
Some viewers fully endorsed Rossi’s approach, saying plane food was often poor quality or expensive to buy.
“I don’t understand the criticism! Plane food sucks, at least you can eat a good cake,” one person wrote.
“Finally, someone I would actually enjoy sitting beside,” another added.
Rossi certainly isn’t the first person to earn criticism after baking during a flight. In August, Texas resident Maria Barradell filmed herself making sourdough bread during a flight to Spain.
The Instagram clip quickly went viral and people criticised her behaviour, calling it “inconsiderate”.
