I have written my latest single about the city of Berlin, because it is definitely one of my favourite places. It's true that it is not the most beautiful city, nor is it renowned for its warm climate but the culture keeps me going back for more. Berlin stimulates me, especially as a musician, more than any other place I have visited for the sheer diversity and amount of music on offer. There are buskers everywhere and the majority are amazing. There are plenty of notoriously touristy places to go clubbing but ask a local who's in the know and you can find many bars and clubs that host amazing techno and house DJs. There are open-mic nights, where you can show off your own talent while taking in other brilliant artists or just grab some beers and a picnic and find a sunny spot in one of the many beautiful parks. It's also incredibly easy to get around Berlin thanks to the U-Bahn (underground train) or you can hire a bicycle. There are loads of markets to mooch around in the weekend, plenty of delicious street food and vintage stores. Whenever I leave Berlin it is always with a heavy heart but one that is also enriched and inspired by my time there.

Last year I decided to take the cheapest route to Europe, through Guangzhou Airport in China. The stopover is about six hours but there is nowhere to lie down, only two cafes and nowhere to shower. I would recommend paying the extra $200-300 and going via an airport that will give you a better experience.
