My favourite way to travel is in a group, which is handy for someone in a band. It leads you to do things you wouldn't normally have done. My wife Mel and I, along with another couple, had always wanted to visit Mexico and although it's a risky test of friendship, we pulled the trigger and decided to travel to Tulum together. I'm so glad we did. My preference was to just sit on the beach enjoying ALL of the guacamole and equal amounts of tequila (and tequila-based beverages). Luckily, others were smart enough to want to visit cenotes, ruins and swim with turtles. All unforgettable. Don't panic though, there was more than enough guacamole and tequila.
MISS
It's hard to "miss" . . . everywhere has something to offer. Even Perth (which I like to describe as a hospital cafeteria, it has everything you need but no one wants to hang out there). I once went through a heavy bout of depression while visiting Vietnam with friends . . . but even then, you're waking up and drinking rum from a coconut, next to a pool, by the beach . . . still a truly great holiday. I will say though, that arriving to a lost baggage situation after 30 hours travel from New Zealand to Berlin is more than a little frustrating. I felt and smelled like a used toilet brush.
