One of the most useful things you can take on a trip is a common old pair of jandals.
If you're travelling cheap you need them to go to the shared shower and toilet - I've been in some with scary growths on the floor - if you're wallowing in luxury they're good for the stroll to the pool and either way they're terrific for relaxing in after a hard day pounding the pavements or walking tracks.
And if you do take jandals on your next trip, the Amazon eco flip-flops are a pretty good option. For a start they've got impeccably green credentials, having been made in Brazil from a mix of old car tyres and a natural plant "sustainably harvested from the Amazon rainforest". But the thing I like most about them is the tyre-tread sole which, unlike most jandals, stops you slipping on wet concrete or tiles.
There is a downside in that the tread is so deep that you can't wear them over a stone chip surface without picking up lots of unwanted bits of rock. But if, like me, you've had a few near-misses on slippery surfaces that's a price worth paying.
