A Christchurch company is offering the "trip of a lifetime" to someone willing to promote New Zealand to the rest of the world.
Entirely Kiwi director Vanessa Forsyth says the fledgling company - which offers reservation services for accommodation, car hire and sightseeing activities within New Zealand - needs someone to travel the length and breadth of New Zealand to meet its new clients.
"We're a relatively new company ... and as you can imagine we've had we've had quite a few suppliers jump on board in a relatively short period of time," she said.
"We had the option of either taking time out of what we're doing now and going and travelling and meeting everybody ourselves, or offering this opportunity to somebody who would really enjoy it and have a lot of fun with it."
The winning candidate will be provided with free accommodation, transport, a daily food allowance and some spending money in return for blogging about their experiences.
"But there's no set wage as such," Forsyth added. "It's just a free trip."
Forsyth said comparisons with the 'best job in the world' competition run by Tourism Queensland earlier this year were inevitable, but denied that was the inspiration for Entirely Kiwi's offer.
"This is something that we actually need to have done and we thought rather than holding the joy of travelling New Zealand to ourselves we'd just spread it to the world."
Like the Tourism Queensland competition however, applicants are required to send videos detailing why they are the best candidate for the 'job'.
The competition is open to people from all over the world, though non-New Zealanders must be eligible for a working holiday visa, meaning they must be aged between 18 and 30.
Forsyth says the winner will need to have a sense of humour, a love of travelling and excellent communication skills.
The winning applicant's journey has not been mapped out, though some opportunities to meet the locals and attend certain events will be organised.
"We want them to feel like they're not restricted in where they go," said Forsyth, adding that the ideal candidate would be someone who is willing to "do some of the adrenaline stuff as well as go and see penguins and just enjoy the scenery along the way".
Applications close on August 31 and ten finalists will be selected to participate in interviews before the winner is announced.
