London's famous Trafalgar Square is being made more attractive to pedestrians. Minister for London Keith Hill and architect Lord Foster have announced the start of public consultation on plans to improve public access and close the north side of the square to traffic.
The changes will cost sterling 23 million ($75 million)
"The design balances the needs of people enjoying this historic square with those of vehicles and shows how we can unlock the best in the square to create a world-class space for people at the heart of the capital," Hill said.
This is part of the first phase of the World Squares For All master plan for the area extending from Trafalgar Square to Whitehall and Parliament Square.
