The town of Townsville, in north Queensland, has been revamped to the tune of millions.
The 2.5km Strand, which runs the length of the waterfront, has undergone a $A29 million ($35.15 million) reconstruction, boasting beaches, gardens, restaurants and bars, a fitness circuit and a water-park playground.
Palmer St, known as the restaurant precinct, has been served some serious remodelling, and the town also has a new museum, the Museum of Tropical Queensland.
