The news is in that Malaysia is the cheapest destination for shopping, and Kuala Lumpur is the home to some of the best malls in Asia. And, as luck would have it, there are plenty of shops to buy new luggage.
1. Sungei Wang Plaza and BB Plaza is always my first stop. It's been around for about 20 years and is not as glamorous as some of its neighbours, but if you're looking for cheap shoes, gadgets, costume jewellery and clothing from local designers, start here with 500 stores and kiosks. You can always come back if you don't find anything better elsewhere. Open daily 10am-10pm.
2. Pavilion Kuala Lumpur is where you'll find international brands like Top Shop, Marc Jacobs, Guess and DKNY. You'll also find designer labels Gucci, Hermes, Prada along with Paris Hilton's handbag store. And for something different, this is where I had an ultra ticklish fish foot spa at Kenko on the 5th floor. Open daily 10am-10pm.
3. Suria KLCC is a six-story mall at the feet of the soaring Petronas Twin Towers. It's perfect if you have kids with you as there is an aquarium and science discovery centre you could send them and tell them not to move. Meanwhile flit around Marks and Spencer, Calvin Klein, Banana Republic, Jimmy Choo and more. Open daily 10am-10pm.
4. Berjaya Times Square is part of the enormous Berjaya Times Square Hotel and is a major city landmark. There is an overwhelming 1000 stores in here along with food and a heady entertainment scene. You won't find high end labels here, instead local boutiques and unknown brands along with toy stores, and an amusement park and cinemas all around you. Open daily 10am-10pm.
