The Mt Batilamu Trek, a two-day guided adventure, allows walkers to sample the dramatic scenery and mountain village culture in Fiji's Koroyanitu National Heritage Park.
Trekkers visit two traditional highland villages, climb Fiji's Sleeping Giant for views of Nadi Bay and the Yasawa Islands, and sleep in Fiji's highest bure near the summit of Mt Batilamu.
The park, a community-run protected area, is an hour inland from Nadi. Departure is from Nadi on the last Tuesday of each month, with trek numbers limited to eight people. The first is from May 30 to June 1, with others scheduled until the end of September.
The trek costs $250 a person and includes transfers from Nadi, all meals and drinks, two nights' accommodation and experienced guides.
