Dig out the skis, beanies and boards - most South Island skifields prepare to open this month. Coronet Peak, Treble Cone, the Remarkables and Snow Park NZ have all improved their snowmaking capacity and are boasting enhanced ski and board experiences. Night skiing, wider trails, new runs and new terrain parks are part of the mix, while Cardrona adds five new apartments on the slopes plus a fourth kids' centre that caters for 7- to 12-year-olds. Snow Park also has a new ski-in, ski-out apartment complex.
