A luxury lodge in the Hawkes Bay has been named the best resort in Australasia - and one of the best in the world - by CN Traveler.
The travel magazine's annual Reader's Choice Awards name the best in luxury travel around the world and is voted on by nearly half a million readers.
The Farm at Cape Kidnappers was named at number 20 in its award for the best resorts in the world, as well as being named the top resort in Australasia. It was the only New Zealand property to make the international list.
The exlusive retreat, which features a dramatic clifftop golf course designed by legendary golf architect Tom Doak, was deemed to be "well above par" by CN Traveler readers.
"This golfers' magnet provides plenty for those who think golf a good walk spoiled. A five-mile road winds through farmland and bush to the property, on a 6000-acre peninsula abutting the Pacific, and from the moment of arrival every whim is catered to," CN Traveler wrote.
