Photographer Pat Greenfield has captured the effect of time and tide on the dramatic north Taranaki coast in the exhibition Impermanence: the Tongaporutu Coastline, which shows at Puke Ariki June 28-August 4.
Puke Ariki is New Plymouth's new museum, library and heritage centre. It is open daily, with a late night on Wednesday.
The coast's rock formations the Three Sisters can be viewed from Pilot Rd just north of Tongaporutu, or accessed on a low tide from Clifton Rd.
There are several Maori rock drawings in nearby caves.
