Take a sneak peek at the new QT Queenstown hotel

With stunning views, a restaurant that "reimagines the traditonal marketplace" and all the quirky design features we've come to know, the soon-to-open QT Queenstown is the next anticipated property for QT Hotels & Resorts

Opening in December, QT Queenstown offers beautiful lake and mountain views, with 69 guest rooms decorated in the signature QT quirky contemporary style.

The property was designed by Nic Graham, styled by Anna Roberts, with costumes by Janet Hine and art curated by Amanda Love.

The hotel will be the Australian company's second New Zealand property, following the recently opened QT Museum Wellington.

Nic Graham has worked with QT since the first property in the collection, QT Gold Coast in 2011, balancing vintage influences and contemporary style to create a sense of luxury comfort.

The designer had never visited Queentown prior to the project.

"I travelled to Queenstown for the first time for the hotel," he says. "The drive from airport to the site was breathtaking."

He soon knew that the restaurant and bar space - now Bazaar Interactive Marketplace and Reds Cocktail Bar - would sit on level six, high up with a view of Lake Wakitipu and Southern Alps.

Bazaar - a "traditional marketplace reimagined" - was designed with the environment in mind, with exposed surfaces, herringbone patterns on the floor and leather straps channelling outdoor sports gear, ski gear, T-bars and gondolas. Chefs provide a theatrical and interactive dining experience inspired by Central Otago's fresh produce.

However, it's in the rooms where the attention to detail and boutique hotel design really comes through - with interesting nic-nacs, wall graphics, cushions and artworks that Graham says creates a sense of "this is home, but a home many of us don't experience".
