We've been enjoying a golden age of travel, with flight prices getting cheaper and more airlines flying to and from New Zealand. But if a new report is to be believed, this could be the last of the golden weather.
Global travel management company Carlson Wagonlit Travel and the GBTA Foundation, the education and research arm of the Global Business Travel Association, have predicted airfares worldwide will rise 3.5 per cent in 2018, Condé Nast Traveler reported last week.
Hotel prices are also expected to rise 3.7 per cent. Combine that with Auckland's new "bed tax", and 2018 could get expensive.
Will it stop us travelling? Hell, no. Just start saving now, and don't say we didn't warn you.
