It's been a bad week for air travel, from the terror plots in Sydney to news of tourists queuing for hours at European airports. It might make you think you should just stay home instead.
I certainly won't be. I love turning up at Auckland International Airport with my trusty blue suitcase and passport in hand.
I've got a routine: whizz round some shops (MAC and Benefit), grab a coffee (Urban Market Cafe at International; Alice and George at Domestic); then pick up some magazines from Relay (Condé Nast Traveller and Vanity Fair). If it's after midday, I'll have a celebratory wine.
My best tip for airport travel? Relax, enjoy, and see it as all part of the experience.
The holiday starts here.
