What's so good about this place: It's a 15 minute walk to Ala Moana (shopping centre) in one direction and a 10-15 minute walk to Waikiki central in the other. Being accessible to all the bars and restaurants means you can walk everywhere and spend the money you would have used on Uber or taxis on the incredible frozen coconut mojitos at the Pool Bar at the Modern.
And the bad: The only downside is that you have to check out at some point.
Toiletries: Gender-neutral in smell and generous sizes.
Food & Drink: Those frozen coconut mojitos at the Pool Bar had been recommended a dozen times before we left New Zealand. I was told they would be "life-changing". Verdict - two thumbs up! And I can vouch for the consistency, given I had a fair few throughout our stay. The omelettes at the Grove for breakfast were delicious and we ordered a turkey club sandwich by the pool that was very moreish.
The bed: A king size bed that was comfy and long enough for my 6'5" partner - his feet weren't hanging off the end, so that was a huge tick in our books.
A room with a view: Even though we had the Partial Ocean View King room, the view was beautiful and way better than anticipated!
Bathroom: Good size, big shower. I judge a hotel by the bathroom, so I was very happy and impressed with this one.
Free Wi-Fi: Yes - perfect to keep friends and family inundated with photos of the view, the sunset and my copious frozen coconut mojitos (have I mentioned how amazing they were?)
Noise: None that we could hear when in our room, unless the balcony door was open, and then it was just the sound of laughter/people enjoying life. They were probably drinking those mojitos.
Value for money: 150 per cent worth it.
Exercise facilities: A well-stocked gym - not that we did any workouts though (sorry to my personal trainer at home.)
