Michelle Weir checks into the Mercure Eiffel Tower Paris Centre.
Getting there: I had flown in to Paris Charles de Gaulle and with mid-morning traffic it took about 90 minutes to get to the hotel. Thrilled our travel agent Gina at YOU Travel Takapuna had insisted on us booking a private transfer, as taxi costs could have been sky high.
Check-in experience: The first impression was a massive wow. What a view — 300m away from the Eiffel Tower itself. Leititia at check-in was friendly and happy. Our room wasn't ready but she recommended an amazing lunch spot just around the corner for us while we waited.
Room: We had a Junior Suite on the top floor (the 12th), at the end, looking right at the Eiffel Tower. Very impressed! Given we were in Paris for Valentine's Day, this room exceeded expectations. The junior suite has a separate bedroom with double bed, lounge area, en suite and separate toilet.
Price: We paid $350 for our double standard room, and were lucky enough to be upgraded to the suite when we checked in.
