Check-in experience: Seamless, from the moment I stepped inside the building.
Room: 1623 on the fourth floor, with views to die for.
Price: $261 a night but specials to be had if you book early.
What's so good about this place? Top-notch location, accommodation, and service. Non-smoking air-conditioned rooms, hair salon and hotel porter. Wedding services on site.
And the bad? Nothing — other than not being able to take home the heavenly kingsize bed I slept in.
What's in the neighbourhood? Nearby are the Federation Concert Hall, Maritime Museum of Tasmania, Theatre Royal. Few minutes walk to Salamanca Place, Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery. Great waterfront bars, cafes, restaurants and more too.

Food and drink: Try the a la carte Restaurant Tasman in the hotel lobby, serving local seasonal produce and free-range meats. Or grab a drink at the Atrium Bar, also in the lobby. overlooking historic Sullivan's Cove. Scrumptious wide-ranging breakfast menu served from 6.30am.
The bed: Kingsize and luxurious. Premium bedding. I had the best sleep I've had for a long time.
Bathroom: Immaculate and tastefully decorated.
Free Wi-Fi: Complimentary.
Noise: Nothing of note, too busy out and about.
Room service: Runs for 24 hours a day.
Exercise facilities: Fitness centre, weight room, indoor heated pool, and great facilities for disabled guests.
