Room: Instagram-ready. Whitewashed brick walls contrasting with wood panelling. Simple colour-blocked artwork, neutral curtains and colour accenting. Not much storage space, but fine for a couple or, like us, a pair of old friends travelling light. There was also a small balcony, good lighting, wooden floors and everything looked modern and stylish.
Bed: The room had two single beds, which I wasn't expecting much from (singles are usually pretty uncomfortable). But these were incredible — memory-foam mattress, crisp linen and pillows that were soft yet firm. After late nights the night before, followed by a busy day exploring, my best friend and I slept for 12 hours straight on our first night, without even trying. View: Some of Eixample's grand classic buildings, as well as — in the distance — the towers of Sagrada Familia.
Bathroom: Modern, with clean lines, and great functionality.
Toiletries: Unidentified brand in wall-mounted refillable bottles. The shampoo and conditioner smelt great and left my hair clean and manageable.
Facilities: The hotel has a lovely rooftop terrace and swimming pool and the lobby bar serves food and drinks all day, with regular live music.
Food and drink: The breakfast buffet was excellent, with cereals, breads, eggs, salads, tortilla Espanola, donuts, freshly baked cakes, fruit, cheese and meats — including a large leg of jamon. To drink, you could choose from a selection of fresh juices, cava, and a Nespresso machine for coffee.
Wi-fi: Free and fast, even at the rooftop solarium. Entertainment: There was a wall-mounted TV, and an excellent in-room sound system, where you connect your phone via Bluetooth and play your music through high-quality speakers in the bedroom and bathroom.
Noise: A tiny bit of road noise, but nothing that disturbed.
