With sunny days coming back to back, now is the time to holiday in New Zealand.
You can still experience that blissful, miles from anywhere sensation without turning up at an international terminal.
Try packing some comfortable clothes, a pair of sneakers and a brimmed sun-cap that will fit under a cycling helmet.
Adventure specialists World Expeditions is heading out on its first 10-day, fully supported cycle journey through the best of New Zealand's South Island lakes and high country this Sunday (October 14) and will depart every month through to April next year. In January's high season, there will be two departures.
You need to be fit enough to cycle at a relaxed pace for three to four hours a day and the trip will put you in the middle of some of the country's most peaceful and stunning surroundings.
The cost is $3095 a person (departing from Christchurch) and covers accommodation in lodges, hotels and farmstays, all but two meals, your bicycle and helmet.
The Milford Wilderness Cycle includes crossing Mackenzies Burkes Pass to the shores of Lake Tekapo, Mt Cook (New Zealand's highest peak), Lake Wanaka, Queenstown, Te Anau, Fiordland and Milford Sound.
