The organisers of Victoria's spring racing carnival are aiming to make this year's events more action-packed, bigger and brighter than ever.
From October 11 to November 23, the state's racetracks play host to some of the most thrilling and dynamic horse racing in the world and also become the stage for the social whirl of high fashion and couture.
The equine events begin with the Caulfield Cup carnival, the BMW Cox Plate at Moonee Valley and country cups at courses throughout the state.
The race that stops the nation and is watched avidly by New Zealanders, too, is the Melbourne Cup on November 7. Worth $A2 million for the winner, tickets for the event are on sale now.
