For those partial to a good yarn, the Auckland Storytelling Festival is in Green Bay this weekend.
Celebrity guest storytellers include Mona Williams and Tanya Batt. Both are storytellers with international reputations, travelling the world to practise their art.
The main entertainment day is Saturday with a family showcase and a children's showcase - including stories created and told by schoolchildren. At night, there is a masquerade showcase when storytellers and their audiences are invited to dress as their favourite characters. On Sunday, storytellers will run workshops.
The event is at Motu Moana Scout Activity Centre in Connaught St.
