The Festival of Lights, which according to its organisers is the largest lights-based event in New Zealand, opened in New Plymouth on December 16.
Thousands of lighting displays within the city's Pukekura Park will continue until February 10. More than 150,000 people go through the park during the Festival of Lights each year, with many returning during the daytime.
This year's theme is Fairy Tales and features Captain Hook and "magic" castles. Entrance is free.
