Something to write home about

One of the most talked-about authors of the past two years will join a Great Authors of the Century theme cruise on the Queen Elizabeth II in July.

Frank McCourt, winner of the Pulitzer Prize for Biography for Angela's Ashes, his powerful story of his coming of age in impoverished Northern Ireland, will introduce the film version of his story to passengers.

The ship will make a transatlantic crossing from New York and Boston to Southampton from July 5 to 12.

Other authors joining McCourt include an American writer of 17 suspense novels, Mary Higgins Clark, and Brian Hoey, a leading writer on British royalty.
