The Greenhouse Backpacker in Melbourne claims to make its guests the slickest backpackers in the city.

The 176-bed hostel in the city centre is nestled between fashion boutiques, cafes and bars. Its rooftop garden has a barbecue, and there is a resume and job information service for backpackers on working holidays.

Dormitory-style accommodation is $A22 ($26) a night. A double room is $A60 ($72).
