The New Zealand Shearing Championships and Te Kuiti Muster take place in Te Kuiti from March 31 to April 2.
The shearing is complemented by carnival-style attractions and events such as Sly Grog Alley, which celebrates the fact that King Country was the last "dry" region, and the Running of the Sheep, where 2000 sheep charge down the main street.
There's also a Kindy Duck Race, lamb and wine food stalls, the Great Lamb Sausage competition, street entertainment, music and fairground rides.
