Palmerston North's Globe Theatre is celebrating Shakespeare's birthday with a variety of community activities. These include an Elizabethan Market Day, workshops for theatre practitioners and students, master classes for drama teachers, films, performances and excerpts of Shakespearean plays. There's also brunch with the Bard and costume design for Shakespeare's characters, a sonnet-writing competition, exploring the plants of an the Elizabethan garden, plus the Sheilah Winn secondary school Shakespeare festival. It runs April 23-30.
