Queensland's big family theme park, Dreamworld, is about to turn some holidaymakers' visits into the stuff of which nightmares are made.
A tour of terror, called The Mummy's Tomb, follows in the bandaged footsteps of Universal Studios blockbuster The Mummy Returns, which grossed the second-biggest opening in America's cinema history.
Dreamworld's far-from-dead Mummy can be found in an interactive tomb along with spiders and skeletons, sarcophagi and scarabs, all lurking in a 325 sq m maze.
The Mummy's Tomb attraction has the latest technological innovations, including a spinning antechamber and nine more chambers haunted with special effects and spooky sounds.
Universal Studios is transporting the attraction to tour throughout Australia. Dreamworld, a 40-minute drive from Brisbane, is its first stop, running until July 15. The Dreamworld theme park will extend its opening hours during the school holidays, from 9.30 am to 5 pm every day.
