Riverboat ride to pioneering past

Bridge to Nowhere Lodge and Tours runs jet boats to the historic Bridge to Nowhere on the Whanganui River. A trip up the majestic river takes you to Mangapurua Landing, where a 40-minute walk through native bush leads to the bridge.

The trip takes four hours and is led by a guide who tells tales of the river and its pioneering history. The cost is $80 each with refreshments provided. Other options include afternoon tea or overnight accommodation at the lodge.
