Kiwis are pouring into the islands of Tahiti in record numbers as New Zealand becomes the third-largest global tourism market for the South Pacific archipelago.
According to latest data released by Tahiti Tourisme, 9068 New Zealanders visited Tahiti in 2024, which is 14.5% more than Australian travellers and a 7% increase compared to 2023 figures.
New Zealand is the third-largest market for Tahiti, after the US and France, followed by Canada and Australia. However, based on the number of visitors per capita, New Zealand is considered the island nation’s largest market with 1.8 visitors per 1000 New Zealanders, Tahiti Tourisme said.
The research showed growth was expected to continue into 2025. The number of air arrivals over the first half of the year is projected to increase by 1.7% compared to 2024.
