At least one British Columbian hotel is wooing tourists at a time when tourists might normally avoid the place.
"Come and experience a British Columbian West Coast storm as it unleashes its remarkable power," say the marketing folk for Pacific Sands Beach Resort in Cox Bay south of Tofino. The hotel is offering Wild for Winter accommodation packages with front-row seats in Lighthouse suites.
Until February, storms come off the Pacific Ocean with 10m-high waves and 100 km/h winds.
Raingear comes with the suite, so guests can ignore the weather and explore the trails of the Pacific Rim National Park. Room rates range from $C89 ($133) a night for three nights.
