Queenstown passes million mark

Queenstown hosted more than 1 million annual visitors for the first time ever.

In the year ending May 2000, 1,009,793 people visited Queenstown, of which 420,000 were New Zealanders and 589,000 from overseas.

Visitors stayed an average of 2.28 days.
