Put the pedal to the metal in Wanganui

A weekend favourite with locals for its picturesque, tree-lined walkways, Virginia Lake in Wanganui is now accessible by pedal boats.

Fifteen minutes' hire for two people, or an adult with two children, costs $5.

The pedal boats are available at weekends and every day during school holidays.

The boats operate from the Great North Rd entrance to the lake, beside the over-the-water band rotunda.
