Taitua Arboretum is a 20ha collection of mature trees, 3km from Dinsdale, Hamilton.
It contains more than 1500 species from around the world, many of them rare and unusual.
The arboretum includes open pasture, lakes, woodland gardens and farm forestry plantations, all linked by a network of paths and bridges.
The colours change with the seasons, with the trees looking particularly magnificent in autumn.
Tui, fantails and pheasants live here and ornamental cattle graze pasture areas.
Attractive picnic spots and easy walks make it ideal for a day's outing.
Entry is free and it's open daily from 8am until half an hour before dusk.
