She might be shiny and black and have masts, but Te Aroha is no slim-line racing yacht. Built in 1909, Te Aroha has been retired from carrying cargo around New Zealand's coastline.
Nowadays, when not docked at Birkenhead Wharf on Auckland's North Shore, she is taking around 70 people to view the Louis Vuitton Cup racing, though she can carry almost 100 people on party trips.
The schooner has two decks (one is the dance floor that can convert to accommodation for up to 22 overnight passengers) a barbecue area and is fully licensed.
