Parents can decamp

A family holiday and a second honeymoon all in one trip is possible with the help of Camp Counsellors USA.

The organisation, which has more than 10,000 camps across the United States, is promoting the concept of family holidays in favourite spots such as Disneyland and Hollywood - then parents taking time out by sending the children to camp.

The camps offer sailing, water-skiing, swimming, arts and crafts, horse-riding, gymnastics, dance, music and drama.

Safety and security are paramount and there is a high ratio of staff to campers. Stays of one or two weeks are popular.
