Panoramic approach to new Australian museum

A major event on the calendar for the Centenary of Federation celebrations in Australia is the opening of the National Museum of Australia in March.

Situated on the banks of Lake Burley Griffin in Canberra, it will display a panorama of Australian life, from its evolution to modern times.

Displays will make the most of the latest technology, media, live performances and hands-on activities.

A special section will be devoted to the history, culture and contemporary issues of Aborigines and Torres Strait Islanders.
