New Zealand's first mural art festival will be held in Katikati, from September 26-October 1 and includes a mural contest. Other events include sculpture and art competitions, exhibitions of quilts, mosaics, patchwork, art and Maori craft. On Saturday, September 30, a street party will be followed by a gala evening to announce the winners of the mural contest. Sunday, October 1 is a family picnic day, with a raft race and other activities.
