Owlcatraz combines fact, fantasy and fun

What are a rock'n'roll legend, a notorious gangster and a gorgeous super-model doing locked up in the lower North Island?

Owlvis Presley, Owl Capone and Owle MacPherson are native owls, and they're three of the stars at Owlcatraz, on SH57 near Shannon, is a zany park combining fact, fantasy and fun.

It includes the Wairuru Caves, the old Shannon jail, and miniature-train rides.

Standing out among the animals is Big Red, supposedly the world's largest cattle beast. If you're staying in Palmerston North, be picked up for a day tour that includes other attractions. Open 9am daily.
