Ostrich on offer in Piako

Ostrich meat cooked on the barbecue, delicately crafted ostrich eggs turned to art, and strapping ostrich chicks are all part of a visit to Piako Ostrich Farm, just outside Thames.

One-hour tours start at 11am and 2pm (except Tuesdays and Wednesdays) until the farm closes for winter on June 1. A craft shop on site is open all year round, (except July), and offers a huge range of ostrich products. Prices for the tours are $7.50 adults, $6 seniors, $3 children aged 5-12, and under-5s are free.
