Kiwi traveller Sam Field was on a clifftop overlooking the Alboran Sea in southern Spain when he had the bright idea to liven up his travel photos with well-timed ninja kicks.
And so began a passion project, which has seen Field, 32, now based in Melbourne, ninja-kicking his way around the globe, from an abandoned World War II US spy base in Teufelsberg, West Berlin, to the Old Town in Kotor, Montenegro, to Matai Bay in Northland, New Zealand. The photos were all taken by his partner Tiffany Mair.
"After some early timing issues, and a couple of near-death experiences, my partner-in-crime/life and I came up with a flawless system of taking these shots live in a single take.
So basically, I am in and out of there before anyone really sees what is happening.
Much like a ninja," he says.
