KEY POINTS:
It's 60 years since the National Airways Corporation, which became Air New Zealand, was established.
To celebrate, a DC-3 will be doing a tour that follows some original NAC domestic routes.
To recreate the nostalgia of the era, the classic aircraft will be staffed by former NAC, Air NZ or Air Force crew in NAC uniforms.
Passengers can fly some sectors of the tour, take a joyride from the airports, or just watch the popular and reliable aircraft go through its paces.
The DC-3 is currently making its way north from the South Island, arriving at Ardmore Airport on March 30, and scenic flights will be available at Auckland International Airport the following day.
Costs start at $80.
