New Yorks sales tax brought to heel

Shopping in New York is even better now that the 8.25 per cent sales tax on clothing and footwear priced under $US110 ($225) has been dropped.

The change is fantastic news for both visitors and New Yorkers, says Cristyne Lategano, head of the city's convention and visitors bureau which represents more than 1100 businesses.
